    Xalatan E/D .005% 2.5 ML is Latanoprost Ophthalmic Solution and a prostaglandin analogue and is prescribed for the management of- of glaucoma and ocular hypertension.It is also recommended in pediatric patients with elevated intraocular pressure and pediatric glaucoma.     What is latanoprost eye drops used for?

    Xalatan E/D .005% 2.5 ML is available in the form of an ophthalmic solution which patients are carefully required to be applied to their affected eye(s) as per doctor instructions.Hold the dropper close to the eye (avoid touching tip of the dropper or let it tip touch any of your eye surfaces to prevent any contamination), Gently squeeze dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid.Store an unopened bottle in a refrigerator and after opening, store it at room temperature up to 25 degree Celsius.

    Xalantan Eye Drops is for external use only and must be strictly used as per doctors advice. The dosage and duration of this medicine will only be decided by your doctor. It is suitable for use in both adults and children. It can be used in combination with other drugs if permitted by your ophthalmologist. It must me used regularly in periodic intervals for best results. Do not stop the use of this drug abruptly unless advised by your doctor. Sudden stoppage of this medicine can increase the high of blood in your eye, leading to blindness.

    1. Wash your hands with soap or sanitiser to avoid contamination. Never use a bottle if seal is broken or it has expired.
    2. Tilt your head in rest position and pull your lower eye lid slowly to make a small pocket in your eye.
    3. Lower the nozzle of the dropper towards your eye and squeeze out a single drop into your eyes. Do not touch or poke the dropper in the retina of the eyes.
    4. If you wear contact lenses, make sure to remove it before application of this medicine. Wait for at least 15 minutes before you put it back.
    5. If you see the particle floating in the liquid, then it might be contaminated so replace your bottle immediately.


    Side Effects: 

    Some of the common side-effects of Xalatan E/D .005% 2.5 ML are- Increased iris pigmentation, Burning sensation in eye, Eyelash changes, Eye itching, Stinging in the eyes, Foreign body sensation in eye, Conjunctival hyperemia etc.if you experience side-effects like macular edema (swelling of the macula of the eye), bacterial keratitis(cornea infection leading to blindness) report to your doctor urgently.

    Most of the side effects associated with this drug are common and disappear after first few uses. These does not require any medical attention however be sure to consult your doctor if the symptoms persists.

    1. Eyelash or change in the color of eyeball
    2. Burning or itching sensations in the eye

    4. Conjunctivitis or redness in the eye
